Brian Blanchard Ethical and Nonpartisan
Wisconsin State Journal, Letter to the Editor from Brian Butler | Posted: April 1, 2010
We write in response to Judge Edward Leineweber's statement that he is "personally pro-life" on religious grounds… For a judicial candidate or a sitting judge to declare allegiance to an ideological, philosophical or religious position that is likely to come before the courts…raises the…expectation that the judge's beliefs will guide his decisions despite the law. The best judges are stubbornly and consistently nonpartisan and non-ideological. That is what the citizens of this state should expect.

Capital Times Endorses Brian Blanchard
“Perhaps most important, however, is Blanchard’s proven commitment to apply the law without fear or favor…. earning a reputation as precisely the sort of tough but fair prosecutor Wisconsinites have come to demand. That’s why more than two dozen current and former district attorneys and sheriffs -- Democrats and Republicans, liberals and conservatives -- from throughout the region have backed his candidacy, as have more than 20 judges and six past presidents of the State Bar of Wisconsin. He has earned our strongest endorsement.”
